Release Periods
This page provides an overview on the Release Period changes introduced by the NDIS
These are the topics on this page:
Introduction
Under Section 33 of the NDIS Act, a significant change has been introduced regarding how participants access their funding for new or reassessed plans. The total NDIS funding allocated for each support category will now be distributed in instalments throughout the duration of the plan.
These instalments are made available in designated "Funding Periods," meaning providers must align their service costs to the available funding within each period. The frequency of these instalments depends on the support type, with the three main Funding Periods being:
Quarterly (every 3 months): Most supports will receive funding releases quarterly.
Monthly: Supports such as Supported Independent Living (SIL) will have funding released monthly.
Upfront: Supports like Assistive Technology or Home Modifications will be funded upfront to cover the cost of the items.
