This page guides you through the steps of creating and managing a newsfeed record.

Introduction

The news Feeds module permits an administration user to create and manage newsfeed records. The newsfeed records created can be reviewed through the Brevity Care web application, the Brevity Care Self-Service portal and the Brevity Care mobile application. Staff members can interact with the newsfeed via acknowledging they have read it as well as assigning comments into the feed.


Navigating the Newsfeed Page

The fields and buttons that comprise the Newsfeed page are outlined as follows

  1. Feature image: This button provides you with access to the File Upload screen from where you can search the image that will be associated with the newsfeed. The selected file will be listed to the right of the button.

  2. Image: This field will list the image through the file upload screen.

  3. Name: This field is used specify the name of the newsfeed.

  4. Description: This field is used to specify a narrative as to the purpose or objective of the newsfeed.

  5. Message tools: The toolbar allows the author of the message to set the alignment, indentation and style of the text, text bolding and italicized.

  6.  Type: This is a drop down field that lists the newsfeed type. The newsfeed can be identified either as news or an event and within the Brevity Care mobile app or the Brevity Care web application the newsfeed will be marked as either news or event.

  7. Community: This is a drop down field that lists the community records that have been established within Brevity. The community record reflects either an internal or external audience and are managed as communication groups. The newsfeed must be identified to the appropriate community.

  8. Is Published: This field is used to indicate whether the newsfeed is to be published to the selected community through the mobile application, brevity web application and self-service portal. Once a newsfeed has had the Is Published field set to YES and the record has been saved, you can not un-publish the newsfeed.

  9. Is Featured: This field is used to indicate whether the newsfeed will be pinned to the top of feeds page in the mobile app. If there are multiple featured feeds then latest published will get pinned to the top. Within the Brevity Care mobile app or the Brevity Care web application the newsfeed will be marked as featured.

  10. Require Read: This field is used to indicate whether it is a mandatory requirement to read the newsfeed. Within the Brevity Care mobile app or the Brevity Care web application this will be identified within the Confirm Read button.

  11. Expires On date: This field is used to specify the date that the newsfeed expires. The date can be specified as free text or by using the calendar picker.

  12. Expires On time: This field is used to specify the time that the newsfeed expires. The time can be specified as free text or by using the time picker.

  13. Created By: This field is automatically set to the login name of the user that created the newsfeed.

  14. Documents: Selecting the button provides you with access to the File upload screen, which allows you to search for files that can be attached to the newsfeed record.

  15. Print Read Receipts: Selecting this button provides access to the Print Read Receipts reporting interface.

  16. Save: Selecting this button will create the record or save changes made.

  17. Close: Selecting this button will exit the user back to the Newsfeed list.


Creating a Newsfeed record

To create a newsfeed record observe the following steps:

  1. Select the Feeds icon from the menu bar to open the feeds page.

  2. From the feeds page, select the Manage Newsfeed icon to open the Newsfeed page.

  3. Select the (plus) new button to open the newsfeeds page.

  4. Within the Name field input the name of the feed, the text entered will be displayed as the newsfeed heading, through the brevity care mobile and brevity care web applications once the feed has been published.

  5. Within the Description field input a narration that describes the newsfeed.
    The content of the description field can be formatted using features of heading, alignment and indentation, bolding and italicising.

  6. Within the type field select from the drop down list the category that will classify the newsfeed. The category of feed can be set as either be set as news or event. The newsfeed type will be displayed to top left of the newsfeed.

  7. Within the community field either select from the down down list or input the community that the newsfeed is applicable with.

    Assignment of the community determines who will see the newsfeed.
    The community must associated with the a communication group which has the details of support workers or clients.
    One community can be identified to multiple communication groups.
    If the required community does not exist then select Create New Record icon to open the community details page



    Within the community page specify the name and a description of the community, select the SAVE button followed by the CLOSE button

  8. Within the Is Published field indicate whether the feed is published or not. Selecting YES will display the feed in brevity care mobile and brevity care web applications.

  9. Within the Is Featured field, indicate whether the feed will feature at the top of feeds page. Selecting YES will feature the feed in brevity care mobile and brevity care web applications.

  10. Within the Required Read field, indicate whether it is a requirement to read the newsfeed. Selecting YES will make the feed mandatory in brevity care mobile and brevity care web applications.

  11. Within the Expires on field either input in free text or specify using the calendar picker the date that the newsfeed will expire. Within the time field either input in free text or specify using the time picker the time that the newsfeed will expire.

  12. Select the SAVE button.

  13. To attach an image to the newsfeed select the Browse button to open the File Upload screen. Search for and select the required image. The selected image will be reflected beneath this button.

  14. To attach documents to the newsfeed select the Browse button to open the File Upload screen. Search for and select the required documents. The selected documents will be reflected beneath this button.

  15. Select the SAVE button.

  16. Select the CLOSE button to exit back to the newsfeeds page


Editing a Newsfeed record

To edit a newsfeed record observe the following steps:

  1. Select the Feeds icon from the menu bar to open the feeds page.

  2. From the feeds page, select the Manage Newsfeed icon to open the Newsfeed page.

  3. Highlight the newsfeed record that is to be updated and either select the Edit button or double-click on the record to open the newsfeed page.

  4. Edit the particulars of the newsfeed which can include as follows:

    Assignment of an image.
    Updating the text within the name field.
    Updating the formatting or the content of the narration within the description field.
    Update the expiry date or time.
    Update the type, alternating it between either News or Event.
    Update the community that will see the newsfeed.
    Attach one or more documents to the newsfeed.


Updating the Newsfeed record status

To edit the activity status of the newsfeed record observe the following steps:

  1. Refer to steps 1 -3 under the topic Editing the Newsfeed record.

  2. To deactivate the newsfeed record select the Deactivate button . Deactivating the record will set it to read-only.

  3. To activate the newsfeed record select the Activate button.

  4. Once done, you can exit back to the newsfeed List.


Delete a Newsfeed record

To delete a newsfeed record observe the following steps:

  1. Select the Feeds icon from the menu bar to open the feeds page.

  2. From the feeds page, select the Manage Newsfeed icon to open the Newsfeed page.

  3. Highlight the newsfeed record that is to be deleted.

  4. Select the "Delete Button" in the upper right portion of the window.

     

  5. Select the OK button from the Delete Record pop-up screen, to remove the selected record. Record listing will refresh.
