Manage Field Permissions

This page provides an overview on Creating and managing field permissions.

Field Permissions are maintained through the System Setup menu, a product feature available only to the organisation's system administrators.

 


Field Permission types

Field permission that can be applied to a user profile include:

No Access

Allocating this permission removes the field from the form.

Read Only

Allocating this permission sets the field as read only.


User Role table form

The assignment of field permissions for a user role will generate a custom table form specific to that role, as illustrated below.

Field permission changes applied to a user profile and viewed through the UI.

The care notes and condition fields are not visible on the client form within the UI for the employee assigned to the user role.

 


Table list check

If you are not familiar with either the table structure or fields within the brevity product you can select the Manage.. Table option as shown below. Please note that EXTREME care must be observed when examining tables and fields, do not alter table or field names or field attributes.

To review data within a specific table, select the Browse Table option as shown below. Then, scroll through the list and choose the table you wish to view.

Establishing a Field Permission

To proceed with establishing field permissions for a user role follow these steps:

 

  1. Subject to you user role, select the System Setup menu to open the system settings page into a new browser tab.

  2. From the Manage menu open and scroll down to and click the user role sub-menu to display the User Roles page.

  3. Click the Field Permissions tab.

  4. Click the Add Permission command button to present the Add/Edit Field Permissions form.

  5. From Role field select the user role from the drop down list.

  6. From the Entity field (this refers to both the standard and custom tables) select the table that holds the fields that the permissions will be applied against.

  7. Select the entity (table) field from the drop down list against which the permission will be assigned.

  8. From Permissions field select the permission rule from the drop down list that will be applied to the field.

  9. Click the SAVE CHANGES button to apply changes and close form.

  10. The field permission will be listed within the record list and brevity will establish a User Role form.

Edit a Field Permission

To proceed with editing a field permission for a user role follow these steps:

  1. Refer to steps 1 - 3 as outlined in Establishing a field permission

  2. Click the EDIT command button located to the right of the field permission record to present the Add/Edit field permissions form.

  3. Apply where required changes to the selections made within the Role, Entity, Fields or Permissions fields

  4. Click the SAVE CHANGES button to close the form.

 


Delete a Field Permission

To proceed with removal of a field permission for a user role follow these steps:

 

  1. Refer to steps 1 - 3 as outlined in Establishing a field permission.

  2. Click the DELETE command button located to the right of the user role.

  3. A delete confirmation message will be presented.

  4. Click CONTINUE to proceed with the deletion of the field permission record.
